The city of Yokohama announced on the 27th that there was a mistake in inoculating 119 people with the vaccine that had been stored at room temperature by mistake in the mass inoculation of the new coronavirus vaccine to the elderly in Seya Ward.

According to the city of Yokohama, the mistake was made on the 27th at the Seya Sports Center in Seya Ward, when the person in charge was not turned on when the vaccine was moved from the freezer to the refrigerator to thaw the vaccine the day before. I didn't realize that.

According to the city, the vaccine after thawing needs to be stored between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius, but this time it was above 8 degrees Celsius for about 18 hours.

On this day, 357 people were inoculated and the person in charge noticed that the refrigerator was not turned on, but it means that 119 people had already been inoculated.

By discarding the vaccine for the remaining 247 people, the city says that the effect of inoculating the vaccine stored at room temperature for a long time is "I do not know for sure because I do not know, but the effect is unlikely."

However, since there is a possibility that sufficient antibodies may not be produced by accidentally inoculated people, we plan to conduct antibody tests on 119 people in the future and inoculate again if necessary.

A person in charge of Yokohama City said, "We deeply apologize to those who received the vaccination. In the future, we would like to check and record the temperature of the refrigerator on a regular basis to prevent recurrence."
