After the re-extension of the state of emergency, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government relaxed some of the measures so far, and department stores narrowed down the request for closure to Saturdays and Sundays only, and on weekdays it was requested to shorten the time until 8:00 pm, as well as movie theaters and museums. It is also a policy to switch the leave of absence to a request for shorter working hours.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government will hold a meeting of the Response Headquarters from 7:30 pm on the 28th to formally decide on the measures to be taken under the state of emergency that will be re-extended from the 1st to the 20th of next month.

According to people familiar with the matter, restaurants will continue to request closures for stores that offer alcohol and karaoke facilities, and shorten the time until 8 pm for stores that do not.

On the other hand, some measures will be relaxed.

Of these, large commercial facilities such as department stores that request closures except for the sales floor for daily necessities will be requested only on Saturdays and Sundays, and on weekdays the request will be shortened until 8:00 pm, and movie theaters and museums will also be closed. The policy is to switch the request to a shorter request.

However, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government maintains the position that it is necessary to curb the flow of people, and if the number of people increases and the infection situation worsens in the future, we are considering returning to strong measures.

Governor Koike will hold an extraordinary press conference to explain this policy after 8 pm on the 28th.
