After Menton in March, the city of Nice will offer a municipal mutual insurance scheme to its inhabitants from September.

Deliberated in city council on Thursday, this measure will allow "to offer access to care to the most disadvantaged by allowing them to have complementary health," said Christian Estrosi.

The mayor wishes "to help those who only have the general social security system to treat themselves because they do not have the financial capacity to have complementary health"

.

Without medical selection, without condition of age or resources, this communal mutual is intended for "all the inhabitants, more particularly young unemployed, seniors, unemployed or temporary workers […]".

21% of the population below the poverty line

The elected representatives of the National and Right-wing Rally of “Retrouver Nice” approved this deliberation by recalling that the poverty rate in Nice was 21% of the population, “six points above the national average”.

The group also stressed that the device already existed in towns held by RN mayors, such as Fréjus or Béziers.

In the Alpes-Maritimes, only the city of Menton had offered its inhabitants to benefit from this complementary health care since March.

With this measure, Nice could be the first of the large cities in France to offer this new service, according to the town hall.
