“We sold everything”.

All the furniture of the famous Carlton hotel on the Croisette in Cannes found buyers at auction, including a stamped pastry cart which was the most disputed piece, said the Aguttes house.

The final auction at 7,500 euros was placed by a French buyer like 80% of the buyers.

Nearly 600 lots, chandeliers, dressers, stylish armchairs, beds, priced from 40 euros, were offered on the Internet until Wednesday by this five-star hotel, under renovation, which has seen scroll since its opening in 1913 celebrities from all over the world.

Under construction, the hotel is due to reopen in 2023

Some 800 people had registered for the sale which saw the various pieces of furniture of the Grace Kelly suite fly for a total of 13,400 euros and that of the Sean Connery suite for 17,700 euros.

The cigar humidor and a chandelier with thirty sconces from the celebrity bar went for 2,000 and 3,000 euros respectively.

The idea was to sell a part of dreams and Cannes glamor, the culmination of a long operation to catalog the rooms from the corridors and outbuildings as well as from the 13 suites in the name of world-renowned actors, Greta. Garbo to Sofia Loren via Liu Ye, Jean Dujardin or Alain Delon.

The hotel is due to reopen in 2023 in a new interior setting attached to the Belle Epoque style of the building and its listed facade.

It has been Qatari property since 2014 under the flag of the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).
