After the worldwide success of the remix of their track "Prayer in C", they explain that they needed time to digest.

INTERVIEW

A middle album track not even released as a single and which, remixed four years later by a German DJ, becomes a worldwide hit that escapes them and the third most searched track in the world on the Shazam app.

That's the funny adventure that challenges in 2014 the French duo Lilly Wood & The Prick and title

Prayer in C

.

Its members, Nili Hadida and Benjamin Cotto, look back on the time they must have taken after this tornado which left them speechless for some time.

They confide Thursday at the microphone of Philippe Vandel in

Culture Médias

, where they present their new album,

"This recovery changed our status and gave us the freedom to do a lot of things. It put us in the background", analyzes Benjamin Cotto.

However, the title Robin Schulz version "came out of the nose holes" of Nili Hadida, in her own words.

"It is especially that I have a spirit of contradiction which is extremely developed and that, by default, I say that I do not like anything", estimates the singer.

"We needed to take a break and not see each other for a little while"

"And so, indeed, when it's a song that someone reclaims, it's not necessarily obvious," she adds. "But we are incredibly lucky and we measure it." Especially since the story of

Prayer in C

was already special. "It's a song that came on the last day of recording the first album," recalls Benjamin Cotto.

“We were leaving the studio and Benjamin was on his guitar,” adds Nili Hadida. "He started playing and I said to him 'But wait, it's really good. Let's open the computer again, we are recording this song'. I also think that if it hadn't been the last day. , we might have produced more. " A coincidence that would have done things well, according to Benjamin Cotto. "Maybe that's what also left space for Robin Schulz for the remix work he did," he imagines.

Still, the unexpected success of the German DJ's version cut the grass from under the young group's feet. "I think we got away from ourselves a bit, we were in something that was beyond us, and we got a bit lost with each other with Benjamin," explains Nili Hadida. "We were polluted by a lot of outside things and we needed to take a break and not see each other for a little while. We needed to digest everything that had happened to us."

If it had to be done again, Lilly Wood and the Prick would not change anything in its history. "I do not regret a second to have taken this break because I love the way in which we found each other", rejoices the singer of the duo. "This album we just released is our best album. This whole adventure is perfectly constructed."
