In Greece, the central archaeological council has authorized the French luxury house Dior to use several major archaeological sites, including the Acropolis, for photography sessions.

The council approved the project "unanimously," an official from the Ministry of Culture said on Wednesday.

The photos taken will also take place at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus at the foot of the Acropolis, the ancient Agora, the temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion near Athens and the temple of Zeus in Nemea, according to this official. .

An additional request to take photographs at the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens, where the first Olympic Games of the modern era were held in 1896, will be considered on Thursday.

A tribute to a session going back 70 years

The Dior house announced at the end of April that it was going to organize its “cruise” parade on June 17 in Athens, a presentation organized by major brands around the world outside of the four annual Fashion weeks.

This 2022 Cruise pays homage to an iconic photo shoot taken 70 years ago at the Acropolis to unveil Christian Dior's haute couture dresses.

The sessions will take place in early June and the results will be presented during the parade, added the ministry official.

“This is not a parade at the Acropolis,” he insisted.
