Shocking images.

In a video, L214 unveiled at the beginning of May the mistreatment of sows in a slaughterhouse in Briec, in Finistère.

In the process, the animal protection association lodged a complaint against the Agromousquetaires group, owner of the Briécoise d'Autage Company, for "serious abuse" and filed a liability action against the State, accusing it of "breaches" .

The slaughterhouse had, in fact, already been pinned down in 2016 for non-compliance with health rules.

Following the dissemination of the images, the Quimper prosecutor's office opened an investigation and the management of the slaughterhouse suspended its production line.

The prefecture of Finistère then indicated that the plant could reopen "only when all light will be shed on its practices".

A video surveillance system installed in the slaughterhouse

It is now done with the partial and gradual reopening of the slaughtering activity since Wednesday. To obtain the green light from the administrative authorities, the Agromousquetaires group explains in a press release that it has taken measures to "strengthen the means of control with regard to animal protection". Employees in contact with animals have thus "taken refresher training for the animal protection skills certificate in recent weeks".

The group also indicates that a video surveillance device has been installed in the slaughterhouse to guarantee increased and continuous vigilance concerning the control of animal protection, on the entire route of live animals ”.

Finally, he adds that the work planned this year to streamline the movement of animals in the corridors of the slaughterhouse "has already been carried out".
