More than 60% of parents of minors have managed their children's use of short videos

Management is based on restriction and preaching

In recent years, the proportion of minors exposed to short videos has continued to rise.

Short videos have the characteristics of fun, knowledge, interaction, and diversity, which are more in line with the cognitive characteristics of minors and are deeply loved by them.

This also means that adults should pay more attention to the use of short videos, strengthen guidance, and help them develop good Internet usage habits from an early age.

The “Study on the Use of Short Videos for Minors and Adolescents” shows that 70.8% of the interviewed minors have used short video/live streaming software. Most minors believe that short video/live streaming has brought positive effects to them, but there are also 31.8 % Of the minors interviewed said they have worsened their time management.

70.8% of interviewed minors have used short videos

The survey found that 70.8% of minors have used short video/live broadcast software, and 29.2% of minors have not used it.

The proportion of girls who have used short video/live broadcast is 8.4% higher than that of boys. The use of elementary school students, junior high school students and high school students is not much different, and the proportion of primary school students who have used it is slightly higher.

In this survey, minors evaluated their changes in various aspects after using short videos or live broadcasts.

It turns out that in most respects, minors think they have become better.

Among them, 77.5% of the minors surveyed believe that they have become better in obtaining information after using short videos or live broadcasts, and more than 60% of minors believe that they are in life skills (67.4%), hobbies (64.8%), Artistic literacy (62.9%) has become better.

In terms of information security (59.2%), knowledge learning (53.6%), and friendships (51.6%), more than half of the minors surveyed think it is better.

  Finally, time management.

Only 34.8% of minors think that their time management becomes better after using short videos or live broadcasts, 33.4% think it has no effect, and 31.8% of the minors interviewed think they are worse in this respect.

Article 65 of the Law on the Protection of Minors stipulates: “The state encourages and supports the creation and dissemination of online content that is conducive to the healthy growth of minors, and encourages and supports networks that cater to minors and are suitable for the physical and mental health of minors. Research and development, production and use of technology, products and services".

For short videos/live broadcasts, the interesting form is the carrier, and the rich content is the core.

Each platform should be accurately positioned, make use of their respective advantages to produce and create content suitable for viewing by minors, so that short videos can become auxiliary tools and assistance for minors to obtain rich information, learn life skills, cultivate hobbies, and improve artistic quality. Device.

More than 60% of parents have managed their children's use of short videos

The survey shows that 65.3% of parents have managed the use of short videos by minors, and 34.7% have not.

There is almost no difference between different sexes.

The comparison of the semester shows that parents have more management of elementary and junior high school students. 80.1% of elementary school students and 71.2% of junior high school students have been managed by their parents in the use of short videos.

Among high school students, the proportions of parents who have managed and those who have not managed it are evenly divided.

A survey of parent management methods found that setting time locks or stipulating usage time is the most commonly used method by parents, with a ratio of 57.5%.

The management method of setting up adolescent mode is also relatively common (51.4%). 44.5% of parents manage their children's use of short videos by informing their children of the possible risks of using short videos.

Less than 30% of parents manage by discussing with their children what they see in short videos, and 20% of parents choose to watch with their children.

Parents of primary school students are more willing to adopt adolescent mode and watch with their children for management. Parents of middle school students are more inclined to inform their children about the possible risks of watching short videos and how to discuss the content with their children.

This difference may be related to the fact that the parents of elementary school students spend more time with their children, and that middle school students have become more mature in their thinking, and have more of their own thinking, opinions, and independence.

From the data, it can be seen that the management methods of parents are mainly restricted and preaching, and there are still very few parents who use communication, companionship and other methods for management.

The reason is probably because most parents are nervous and anxious about their children’s exposure to short videos, and they are unwilling or afraid to talk about short video topics with their children, let alone watch short videos with their children, or recommend short videos to their children. .

In fact, any network scenario, such as online games, online social networking, etc., will bring risks to minors in time management and consumption management.

Instead of "blocking", it is better to "sparse". This requires parents to help their children cultivate a healthy lifestyle in the digital age in their daily lives, so that children can develop self-management skills from an early age, and develop good exercise habits, leisure habits, and learning habits. ,Consumption habits.

We should respect the participation rights and creativity of minors, and at the same time, use the content and use of short videos as a channel for parent-child communication, recommend some content suitable for them to watch, and discuss interesting and useful short videos with children, and follow along Practice short videos of popular science, art, etc., or try to shoot short videos with children, understand the psychology of minors’ preference for short videos in communication and communication, and understand the growth needs and worries of minors. This way It not only meets the children's needs and curiosity in using short videos, but also establishes a good parent-child relationship, teaches minors by precept and deeds, and guides them accordingly.
