Charlize Theron throws herself into the waves.

The actress signed with Netflix to develop a film inspired by the fight of women to obtain the right to surf the best spots around the world.

Inequalities are a recurring problem in sports, and surfing is no exception.

This new film will be based on a

, written by Daniel Duane and published in 2019.

For this new project, which she will follow as a producer, Charlize Theron is teaming up with Niki Caro, director of the live-action remake of

Mulan

for Disney.

It has not been announced if the actress will also be on camera.

Behind this story are four pro surfer girls: Bianca Valenti, Andrea Moller, Paige Alms and Keala Kennelly.
