  • Restrictions This is how teleworking in a pandemic has crushed our physical and mental health

The director of the Center for the Coordination of Health Alerts and Emergencies, Fernando Simón, has publicly requested this Monday prudence in the face of the repeated calls made, mostly from the Government, to encourage travel to Spain in the tourist season that begins.

"I think we should lower a bit the tone of euphoria, saying 'Spain is open to tourism. "

You can say screaming or quietly. I, as a

coach, I would

rather have it said softly "

, assured has Simon for his appearance before the media to assess the evolution of the coronavirus pandemic.

"The incidence in the United Kingdom right now is much better than what we have in Spain," said Simón when asked about the elimination, by the Spanish Government, of entry restrictions for British tourists. A movement that aims for that country, the main issuer of travelers to ours, to place Spain on the list of safe destinations. "It is not a problem of whether or not you can come from the United Kingdom, from the point of view of the technicians the problem is euphoria," he insisted.

"Although I do feel heard, my voice is not the only one, nor does it have to be the only one," the epidemiologist added later. If you have recognized that you expect that, when the "impact" of tourism arrives, from mid-June, vaccination levels will have increased considerably both in Spain and in the countries of origin. "In 10, 15 days those immunization percentages will put us in a situation where our population will be quite protected," he said.

Simón has also accepted that

after almost "a half year" in which "the weight of health criteria has been almost exclusive", other interests are beginning to be valued

.

"I would prefer that there be shouts of all this in 20 days, that we were still a little more cautious, but not everything depends on me and I have to understand it, because it is like that."

The director of the CCAES has indicated that the data show a "stabilization" in the epidemic.

As he explained, it continues to decline in all communities, but at a lower rate than it had been in previous weeks.

"It is possible that we continue to have a smooth decline," he said.

"This week we could already be around 30 deaths a day, or between 30 or 40", has advanced Simón, who has considered that the occupation in ICU continues to be "high".

The epidemiologist has attributed the downward evolution of the pandemic to the advance of vaccination.

Even so, one more day has called for maintaining "transmission control measures, especially in unvaccinated groups."

Simón has defended that "there are still risks that we cannot eliminate until we have vaccinated populations larger than we have."

And, secondly, he recalled that "one in ten vaccinated can still become infected."

Fernando Simón has reviewed the progress of vaccination in the most vulnerable age groups.

"In total, those over 60 have 94% vaccinated with at least one dose," he stressed, although he clarified that the second dose still needs to be administered to most people between 60 and 69 years old.

Coronavirus data over the weekend

The Ministry of Health has notified this Monday, Monday, 11,067 new cases and 91 new deaths from coronavirus since Friday.

The data are practically traced to those of a week ago,

when 11,061 infections and 93 deaths were reported.

And there are already 3,647,520 infections and 79,711 deaths with a confirmed coronavirus diagnosis since the beginning of the pandemic in Spain.

Since Friday, no community remains at the maximum alert level.

The Basque Country, with an incidence of 219.59 and Madrid (202.30) are the most affected, although both are down compared to Friday.

The most comfortable are still Ceuta (14.25), Valencian Community (29.50) and the Balearic Islands (38.67).

The

seven-day incidence, which is used to detect trend changes, is almost stagnant.

On Friday it marked 59.03 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and this Monday, 58.64.

Hospital occupancy also continues to fall, already standing at 4.51%.

Also in the Intensive Care Units (ICU), with a percentage of 16.71% of beds dedicated to Covid patients.

The territories with the highest saturation in ICUs continue to be Madrid (35.39%), the Basque Country (28.60%), La Rioja (26.42%) and Aragon (24.78%).

While the most relieved are Galicia (3.44%), Valencian Community (3.55%) and the Balearic Islands (4.71%).

It should be borne in mind that these percentages only count those admitted by coronavirus.

So, to calculate the real occupation, it would be necessary to add those admitted for other pathologies and surgeries.

In Europe, the countries with the highest incidence continue to be Sweden (494.1), the Netherlands (401.2) and Belgium (286.1), in the absence of data from France, which has been third in this ranking in the last days.

Those that keep it lower are the United Kingdom (41.5), Romania (46.8) and Portugal (50.9).
