From more than 40 years ago, in Changsha, Hunan, Yuan Longping gave precious hybrid rice seeds to cadres who came from Wuyi, Jinhuashan County, Zhejiang Province. Later, when he celebrated his birthday in Wuyi, he received a bunch of rice ears from a local farmer. From the birthday gift to Yiwu merchants in Zhejiang, hybrid rice was promoted in Angola, Africa. Yuan Longping’s well-known "dream of enjoying the coolness under the grass" has never changed.
"I dreamed that my super rice grows taller than sorghum, the ears of rice are longer than brooms, and the grains are bigger than peanuts. Alas, I am so happy. My assistant and I are just enjoying the cool under the ears of rice. Hexia enjoys the cool dream."

In June 2019, Yuan Longping wrote an inscription for the readers of the local media "Jinhua Daily": "Hexia Chilling Dream".
The story between him and the local area goes back to the 1980s: At that time, Wuyi County, Jinhua City was very poor, and the relevant person in charge of the local agricultural bureau went to Changsha to visit Yuan Longping.
Yuan Longping was moved by his sincerity and gave Wu Yi half a catty of precious hybrid rice seeds.
"From then on, Yuan Longping will send it to Wuyi as soon as a new super rice variety comes out, and try to plant it in Wuyi," said Jin Zhongliang, who was once the county magistrate and secretary of Wuyi County.
According to reports, Wuyi is the first county in Zhejiang to sign a workstation with Academician Yuan Longping.

At the birthday banquet, local grain growers expressed their gratitude and presented a bunch of rice ears, ten red eggs and longevity noodles.
"That day, Yuan Yuan was very happy." Jin Zhongliang recalled that he proposed at that time to invite Yuan Longping to play the violin, but Yuan Longping did not refuse.

In Zhejiang, Yuan Longping also left many stories.
For example, he has a strong memory in an interview with local media in recent years. He recalled his experience of buying reading glasses in Yiwu, Jinhua in 2011.

In 2019, with the goal of helping local food self-sufficiency, China's hybrid rice production and breeding base was established in Angola.
On May 22, 2021 local time, Huang Yunfeng, who was in Angola, made a special turn to the base.
At the end of this year, he plans to promote the cultivation of hybrid rice to 30,000 mu here.

In October 2020, Pujiang party members and cadres went to visit Lao Yuan and invited him to the Shangshan site to see the super rice.
Yuan Longping promised: "The yield of 1000 kilograms of 100-mu tablets per mu, let me see!"
