Good news for vaccines .. England: Vaccines offer high protection against the Indian strain

12,675 cases were included in the study, 1054 of them from the Indian ancestry

A study conducted by Public Health England revealed that the Corona virus vaccine produced by Pfizer is 88% effective against the Indian strain after receiving two doses.

The British BA Media reported today, Sunday, that the study found that both the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines were nearly as effective against the symptoms of the disease from the Indian strain as they were against the Kent strain after the second dose.

However, the two vaccines were only 33% effective three weeks after the first dose.

British Health Secretary Matt Hancock described the results of the study as "pioneering", at a time when the country's public health authority said it expected to see higher levels of effectiveness against hospitalizations and the number of deaths.

The study, conducted between April 5 and May 16, found that the Pfizer vaccine was 88% effective against symptoms of the Indian strain two weeks after the second dose, compared to 93% effective against the Kent strain.

Meanwhile, the AstraZeneca vaccine was 60% effective, compared to 66% against the Kent strain during the same period.

About 12,675 cases were included in the study, of which only 1,054 were of the Indian ancestry.
