A few weeks ago, astronaut Thomas Pesquet became the first person to hear Coldplay's new song Higher Power ... while on the ISS.

A unique premiere gig that according to the band could not fit better:

- The music often takes place in space and looks down at the earth, so when we had the opportunity to contact the International Space Station, it felt like a completely surreal opportunity to release new music, says Coldplay's bassist Guy Berryman.

- Since it is not possible to play for anyone on earth, it was a perfect idea to do it from space, drummer Will Champion fills in.

Collaborates with Max Martin

Since its premiere, Higher Power has been played both live on American Idol and on a raft in the Thames during the opening number of the Brit Awards.

The single is the first before Coldplay's upcoming ninth album, which will be produced by the Swedish producer Max Martin.

- This is probably our most Swedish album until now.

We have previously heard about Max and his incredible songwriting and music production.

We feel that we were given the opportunity to work with someone we know is a phenomenal talent, says Will Champion.

Coldplay's drummer also praises the Swedish producer for his inexhaustible energy.

- We are in our 40s now and need fresh ideas and new energy and Max has it in abundance.
