An investigation was opened for "alleged acts of incitement to racial hatred" against the MEP RN Nicolas Bay.

It follows "a report and a complaint from the great mosque of Paris" after the broadcast of a video shot by the elected official in front of the site of the mosque, in Guichainville (Eure), said Dominique Puechmaille, prosecutor of Evreux.

This 44-second video was posted on May 5 on Nicolas Bay's Facebook account, according to the report sent to the prosecutor by the elected officials of the left-wing opposition group in the Evreux city council.

Outgoing regional councilor, Nicolas Bay is also head of the list of the National Rally in Normandy for regional elections and member of the national office of the RN.

A call for "violence against Muslims attending this mosque"

According to the comments reported in this report by the elected officials of the left, Nicolas Bay declares in this video in particular: with the construction of this mosque, it is "our Norman landscapes which today are disfigured, and political Islam which is spreading everywhere in France and right here in Normandy.

We must put an end to this drift, we must stop communitarianism, when we know that it matters at the same time delinquency, criminality, and terrorism as we saw with the assassin of Samuel Paty in Conflans -Sainte-Honorine a few months ago ”.

The elected officials of Evreux also affirm, with supporting examples, that the publication of the head of the RN provoked comments on his Facebook page which, “in addition to their racist character, (...) call, unequivocally, for violence against Muslims attending this mosque ”.
