"Over the past day, on May 18, 138 forest fires were liquidated in Russia on an area of 5100 hectares," RIA Novosti is quoted as saying.
It is noted that by midnight on May 18, 64 forest fires were operating in Russia on an area of 22,526 hectares.
The maximum area of fires was recorded in the Tyumen region, where 17 wildfires were active on 21,743 hectares.
Earlier it was reported that in the Novosibirsk region, military pilots conducted exercises to extinguish forest fires.
