• Suspected of serious mistakes in the financial management of the festival, Joëlle Kérivin was forced to resign in March.

  • The damage suffered by the festival exceeds 230,000 euros, according to an audit.

  • The festival is largely supported by the city of Nantes.

We now know the amount that Joëlle Kérivin, former director of the La Folle Journée festival and former president of the Simone-de-Beauvoir Women's Rights Defense Center, would have embezzled: at least 232,978 euros! This is what emerges from the audit carried out by the accounting firm KPMG at the request of the local mixed economy company (Saem) La Folle Journée, victim of the damage. To this already substantial amount, we must add 3,000 euros to the detriment of the Folle Journée endowment fund.

"Without prejudging the overall amount resulting from the current investigation, this amount already corresponds to advances on salaries and costs, between July 1, 2017 and March 15, 2021", date of the submission of the resignation of Joëlle Kérivin, reports the board of directors of La Folle Journée.

“It was established on the basis of control of Saem bank reconciliation statements, analysis of account movements, reconciliation of supporting documents and spot checks of expense reports, invoices from suppliers and supplier balances. debtors ”, specifies the board of directors, which met Monday evening.

A festival despite everything at the end of May

The investigation was entrusted to the public prosecutor.

La Saem Folle Journée, whose main funder is the city of Nantes, has decided to take legal action.

Joëlle Kérivin, 48, has been running La Folle Journée since 2015.

She is suspected of management errors and serious misconduct involving in particular "representation costs and advances on salaries".

The founder and artistic director of the famous classical music festival, René Martin, is, at this stage, out of the question.

La Folle jour de Nantes will take place on May 28, 29 and 30 in an extremely small configuration: 24 concerts will be offered.

Bach and Mozart will be the two composers in the spotlight.
