Use technology to explore the ancient unknown world

Scientific and technological means play an important role in the process of archaeology and cultural relic protection, which is also reflected in the exhibition.

The Wanggou site is a regional central settlement with a considerable population in the Yangshao culture in the Neolithic Age. Carbonized textiles were found in the urn coffin unearthed at the site.

Using a micro-mark detection technology based on a customized polyclonal silk protein antibody, the fiber material of the textile unearthed from the ruins of the urn coffin was analyzed, and it was confirmed that it was silk fabric.

Combined with related discoveries at other sites, it is definitively proved that the Chinese ancestors began to raise silkworms to make silk as early as 5,000 years ago in the Yellow River Basin, and that silk fabrics existed to a certain extent at that time.

In addition, the carbonized rice unearthed at the Shangshan site in Pujiang, Zhejiang is also worthy of attention.

The Shangshan culture dating back from 11,000 to 8,600 years is named after the Shangshan Site in Pujiang County, Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province.

The rice remains at the Shangshan site provide the earliest initial evidence of domestication in the world.

According to the C14 dating, rice was first domesticated in China 10,000 years ago.

The evidence of the origin and development of rice in the Shangshan culture has enriched the understanding of the origin of world agriculture.
