Regarding the boring survey off Mageshima in Kagoshima Prefecture, where the construction of a Self-Defense Forces base used for training of the U.S. Forces in Japan is planned, the Ministry of Defense reviewed the survey period until the end of this month because it was difficult to investigate due to bad weather etc. We have decided to extend it for one year.

The Ministry of Defense is planning to build a Self-Defense Forces base on Mageshima as a relocation destination for takeoff and landing training for USFJ aircraft carriers, and is conducting ground boring surveys in the surrounding waters.

Initially, the survey was planned to be completed at 37 locations by the end of this month, but due to bad weather and other factors, work has not progressed, and so far only 11 locations have been completed.

According to people familiar with the matter, the Ministry of Defense has reviewed the original plan and decided to extend the investigation period by one year and complete it by the end of May next year.

In the waters around Mageshima, the abalone family "Tokobushi" is in the fishing season from next month to mid-August. It is a policy to do.
