On the occasion of World IBD Day, we take stock of these chronic inflammatory bowel diseases.
They are characterized by inflammation of all or part of the lining of the digestive tract, caused by a disruption of the intestinal immune system.

These are Crohn's disease, which can affect any part of the tube, and ulcerative colitis (UC), which affects the lower part of the rectum and part of the colon.
These diseases are manifested by abdominal pain, diarrhea sometimes accompanied by bleeding or cracks or abscesses in the anus and lead to food malabsorption and fatigue.
They can also have a strong psychological impact.
