It was his relatives who announced the sad news Sunday on Facebook.

“Bernard left for his last trip with strength and surrounded by love,” they wrote in a message.

According to the BFMTV website, he died of illness.

Retired for ten years and former nature guide, Bernard had participated in the 12th edition of

Koh-Lanta

, toured in 2012 in Malaysia.

Very touched by this disappearance, Denis Brogniart, the host of the show, paid tribute to him on Twitter.

“Very sad to learn of Bernard's death (…) He was a man in love with nature, a great sportsman, adept at long-term challenges.
