Yamaguchi Prefecture and Shimonoseki City announced that it has been newly confirmed that 17 men and women in their teens to 80s are infected with the new coronavirus.
This brings the total number of confirmed infections in Yamaguchi Prefecture to 2,440.
In addition, the prefecture announced that two men in their 80s and 90s who had been hospitalized at a medical institution in Yamaguchi Prefecture died on the 17th after being infected with the new coronavirus.
The number of people who have died after being infected with the new coronavirus in the prefecture is now 53.
