Danny Vera came second on Saturday evening at the Free European Song Contest (Free ESC), a German alternative to the Eurovision Song Contest.
The singer conquered that spot with his hit song
him 94 points.
It is the second time that the Netherlands has landed in second place in the alternative song contest.
Last year, during the first edition, it was Ilse DeLange who finished second.
The gold went to Rea Garvey on Saturday night, who secured Ireland first place by scoring 116 points with his number
Singer Milow, who played for Belgium, finished in third place with 77 points.
The presentation of the alternative song contest was in the hands of Conchita Wurst, the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest of 2014.
Free ESC was actually intended as a one-off event last year because the real Eurovision song contest was canceled due to corona. The show was broadcast not only in Germany, but also in Austria and Switzerland. The big man behind the initiative is the well-known German presenter and comedian Stefan Raab. He himself participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000 and for years organized a similar competition for the sixteen German states, the Bundesvision Song Contest.
