In order to face the upcoming flood season of the Yangtze River, the Three Gorges Group is progressing the pre-flood reduction of the Three Gorges Reservoir in an orderly manner as planned.
The maximum storage level of the Three Gorges Reservoir is 175 meters, and the effective flood control storage capacity is 22.15 billion cubic meters.
The Three Gorges Reservoir stores water at the end of each year, and gradually releases and vacates its storage capacity during the dry season to before the next year's flood in order to maximize the comprehensive benefits of flood control, power generation, water replenishment, and shipping.
