At least seven people drowned in Indonesia after capsizing their boat while taking a group selfie.

All 20 boat occupants suddenly moved to one side of the boat to take the photo, the police said on Sunday.

As a result, the boat with the tourists capsized on a reservoir on the island of Java on Saturday.

"The 20 people took a selfie on the right, then the boat tipped over and capsized," said Central Java Police Chief Ahmad Lutfi. Eleven people could be saved, seven were only rescued dead. Two other Indonesians were still missing. The authorities found that the boat was overcrowded as the cause of the accident. According to the police, the boat was steered by a 13-year-old. In Indonesia with its around 17,000 islands, boat accidents often occur due to the lax safety regulations.
