Chinanews.com, Guilin, May 16 (Liu Jianshe and Ou Huilan) Following the flood discharge at 14 o'clock and 18 o'clock on May 14th, the Fuzikou Reservoir and Xiaorongjiang Reservoir in Guilin City were discharged at a flow rate of 150 cubic meters per second and 100 cubic meters per second respectively. At 16:00 on May 15, the Chuanjiang Reservoir also discharged floods at a flow rate of 100 cubic meters per second.

Affected by the recent continuous heavy rainfall, in order to reduce the flood pressure of the Lijiang River, the various reservoirs of the Lijiang Reservoir Group have made every effort to intercept the flood and cut the peak of the Lijiang River. As a result, the water level of the reservoir has risen rapidly. And on the 15th, the operating water level exceeded the flood limit.

According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, due to the combined effects of the high-altitude trough, the shear line and the cold ground air, there will be a heavy precipitation process in Guilin from May 16 to 17, and it may be accompanied by 8-10 short-term thunderstorms, hail, etc. Strong convective weather.

The accumulated rainfall during the process is 50-150 mm, and it can reach more than 200 mm locally.

In order to ensure the safety of flood control in the later stage of the reservoir and the flood control of the Lijiang River, in accordance with the instructions of Guilin Water Resources Bureau, on the basis of the flood discharge of the Fuzikou and Xiaorongjiang reservoirs, the Chuanjiang Reservoir was added for flood discharge at staggered peaks to free up more water. With more storage capacity, it can resist heavy rainfall that may appear at any time.
