The “lateral thinking” demonstrations registered for this Saturday in Dresden remain prohibited.

The Saxon Higher Administrative Court (OVG) has confirmed the city's prohibition order, as the judicial authority announced on Friday evening.

The appeal against the decision of the Dresden Administrative Court thus remained unsuccessful.

It is about three originally planned meetings.

The administrative court followed the prognosis of the state capital, according to which the meetings with a total of 5,000 registered people pose unacceptable corona dangers for participants, police officers and passers-by, which can only be avoided by a ban. Because of the above-average number of infections in Saxony in a nationwide comparison and the spread of virus variants, there is an incalculable risk.

The Saxon Higher Administrative Court followed this assessment.

Since the SarS-CoV-2 virus is spread by droplet or aerosol infection, the risk of infection is also increased in open-air gatherings with a high number of participants.

Regardless of the outcome of the legal dispute, as on previous occasions, the police have prepared themselves for critics of the corona protective measures to still come to the city center.

Significant traffic restrictions are expected.
