[Explanation] Huo Guiyou, 67 years old, is a villager in Fenghongkang Village, Pingxiang County, Hebei Province.

In 2009, he went to Pingxiang County Martyrs Cemetery as an administrator. In addition to cleaning the cemetery every day and trimming the flowers and plants, he also collected stories about the War of Resistance around him and told the people who came to the cemetery to worship.

[Explanation] Recently, at the Martyrs Cemetery in Pingxiang County, the reporter met Huo Guiyou who was cleaning the cemetery.

According to Huo Guiyou, since taking on the important task of guarding the cemetery, he has spared no effort to do this job well.

After the cemetery was completed in 2009, I signed up as an administrator. At that time, I liked (collecting) the anti-Japanese war and the liberation war (deeds). Some of the deeds in Pingxiang County include the deeds of the martyrs in Pingxiang County. , After this, I can have a deeper understanding of some real deeds.

[Commentary] According to Huo Guiyou, there are currently 384 tombs for martyrs in Pingxiang County Martyrs Cemetery, and 298 martyrs have been buried.

During his tenure as an administrator, he assisted local villagers to relocate and bury the remains of martyrs scattered among the people in the Martyrs Cemetery of Pingxiang County on many occasions.

In Dazhangzhuang, Pingxiang County, there is a martyr from Shanxi called Qin Guoxing, who is (already) buried here. When the heroic soul of the martyr is buried in the cemetery, I feel very happy and very comfortable.

[Explanation] In recent years, Huo Guiyou has devoted himself to recording the real anti-Japanese deeds around him.

In August 2020, he collected and compiled a copy of "Those Things Happened in Hongkang during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression", which actually recorded 7 stories about the local war of resistance.

Because Hongkang had a lot of battles during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, there was a folk song (previously) that there was a war, and when it came to Hongkang, Hongkang would often win the battle.

In other words, there are a lot of stories about the people saving the Eighth Route Army soldiers in Hongkang. When I was a child, my parents and my grandparents often told them. They have been printed in my head. I feel these stories. It’s also a pity that I’ve lost it. I organized 7 short stories last year through a year’s reorganization.

[Commentary] Huo Guiyou said that he wanted to print the sorted story into a pamphlet and put it in the cemetery before July 1 this year, so that those who came here to worship the heroes could understand the local story of the War of Resistance and inherit the spirit of the War of Resistance.
