Prince Harry, 36, is happy that he can lead a largely normal life again after moving to the United States.

His life as a member of the Royal Family in Great Britain was "like a mixture of 'The Truman Show' and a zoo," said the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II in an episode of the podcast "Armchair Expert" published on Thursday.

In the American film "The Truman Show" (1998), the main character (Jim Carrey) does not know that she is part of a television series and that her life has been accompanied by actors in a setting since she was born.

"Sorrowful cycle" at the Royals

The prince again formulated serious allegations against his biological family, and especially against his father.

He, Harry, finally wanted to break this almost “genetically” transmitted “circle of pain” and wanted to raise his children freely.

He knows that his father experienced suffering and pain in his own upbringing and then passed this on to his own children.

The Duke literally said: "(...) I will make sure that I interrupt this cycle so that I do not pass it on."

According to his own account, he was considering withdrawing from the royal family more than 15 years ago.

Harry said on his podcast on Thursday that he thought about such a step several times in his 20s.

It was a heavy burden to be the queen's grandson.

In the conversation, he also referred several times to his mother Princess Diana, who had a fatal accident in 1997 while fleeing from paparazzi.

“I don't want this job.

I don't want to be here, I don't want to do this, ”Harry said.

He saw what happened to his mother.

Secret meetings in the supermarket

In the 90-minute podcast, Prince Harry also talked about how he and his future wife tried to remain undetected in public at one of the first meetings.

“The first time Meghan and I met and she stayed with me, we met in a supermarket in London and pretended we didn't know each other.

We texted each other, standing in different aisles. “He got strange looks for it.

In the past, he was often out and about in public with lowered head and cap in order to remain undetected as possible, Prince Harry continued.

In his new home, California, he can now live more freely, he is no longer so tense - “my shoulders have sunk” - and his son Archie, 2, can ride around on his bike.

"I never would have had the chance to do that," Harry said of the UK.

The prince emphasized that the move to the USA was not planned.

"But sometimes you have to make decisions and put your family first and your sanity first," Harry said.

Criticism in the British tabloids

The response to the Duke of Sussex's recent interview was partly devastating in Great Britain.

“Just How Low Can Harry Go?” (German: “How low can Harry sink?”) Was the headline of the “Daily Mail” on Friday.

Thousands of comments quickly accumulated among the relevant online articles on the subject, accusing the prince of disloyalty and dishonesty.

Again and again the readers of the paper urge the Queen to finally withdraw the title from the Duke and his wife.

Others criticized the fact that Harry and Meghan had actually asserted the longing for more privacy for their withdrawal from the royal family - and now they were always looking for the public with the most intimate details.
