Often confused with cosmetic surgery, anti-aging medicine favors a preventive and comprehensive approach to fight against aging.

General practitioner in Paris and graduate in anti-aging medicine, Dr. Khamzat Bekov details on Europe 1 the care of patients.

Aging is not only observed in the bathroom mirror, it is felt: shortness of breath, loss of energy, fatigue also betray the degradation of the body. If cosmetic surgery is able to tackle certain external effects of aging, such as the installation of wrinkles, sagging of the face or weight gain, a scalpel will not restore the tone of your 20 years. This is where anti-aging medicine can come into play. Favoring a global approach, which combines nutrition, micronutrition, but also certain regeneration techniques such as biophotomodulation or radiofrequency, anti-aging medicine aims to prevent the effects of cancer. aging throughout the body.

"Very often anti-aging medicine is confused with medicine and cosmetic surgery", explains at the microphone of

At what age to start?

"From the moment the body is formed, that is to say around 25 years old, prevention must be started," says Dr Bekov.

An age, however, when we are still little concerned about aging and its effects, these being practically non-existent, so that the average age of the first consultation turns more around 40 years, "when wrinkles and fatigue linked to the decline in hormonal production take hold. "

This is indeed one of the first reasons for consultation in Dr. Bekov's patients: chronic fatigue that nothing seems to explain.

"The patient sleeps well, eats well, leads a healthy lifestyle, but feels tired."

What happens during a consultation ?

The doctor begins by carrying out a very complete assessment before setting up a plan of attack, adapted to the age, state of health, lifestyle and history of each patient. "A consultation lasts between 1h30 and 2 hours", indicates our practitioner. "It is a comprehensive care, that is to say physical, psychological and aesthetic. We start by asking the patient about his personal, surgical, family history, his allergies, the possible risks related to harmful habits ... "

A careful clinical examination follows, including weight, height, skin condition, lymph nodes and cardiovascular system.

Dr Bekov places particular emphasis on the digestive system, which he controls with several types of abdominal palpations that allow him to determine if the small intestine, for example, is inflamed.

After that ?

The patient is recommended a diet adapted to his profile, often consisting of vegetables and lean meats, but also food supplements, vitamins, minerals, probiotics and prebiotics. The individualized program is generally set up over a period of at least 18 months, with milestones carried out at the doctor's office every six months, which can seem very long. "I always explain to my patients that I will treat them for years to come," says Khamzat Bekov.

Refinement of the silhouette, decrease in fatigue, increase in appetite, good looks… It is up to the patient to estimate the effects of the program on his well-being, no clinical test being able to scientifically prove that the aging of cells has well and truly slowed down. But Dr. Bekov assures that certain effects, especially on the digestive system, can be felt from three months.
