Heavy rains which may generate a rapid rise in water levels locally.

This Monday, the prefect of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region calls on the population to exercise caution around the Saône and Gier, placed in yellow vigilance to floods by Météo France.

“These floods can generate overflows, localized damage or rapid and dangerous rising water levels.

The prefect calls for the vigilance of everyone, including in Lyon, ”indicate in a press release the services of Pascal Mailhos.

Heavy rain until late at night

The Ain, the Rhône, the Loire, the Haute-Loire and the Ardèche have been placed in orange vigilance for thunderstorms and floods due to an "active rain-storm episode from the Cévennes to the Ain, bringing cumulative noticeable rain until the end of the night from Monday to Tuesday ”, specifies Météo France.

According to cumulative estimates, it could fall in twenty-four hours the equivalent of a month of rain between the Rhône and Saône, according to the local weather forecast site Lyon Météo, which indicates that in four hours this Monday morning, it has already fallen an average of 30mm.

The accumulations should reach 80 to 100mm by Tuesday morning.
