"We have plenty of space at the Vasa Museum and we will let in a maximum of 250 simultaneous visitors," says Jenny Lind, director of the museum in a press release.

Last year's visitor numbers were the worst in the museum's history.

The foreign tourists normally account for just over 90 percent of the visitors and during the pandemic year 2020 these did not occur.

In a debate post in Dagens Nyheter on 8 May, signed by 13 managers at the country's central museums, strong efforts and compensation for the museums' loss of income are demanded.

More than half have been forced to lay off staff, including the Vasa Museum.
