Mariah Carey has a good sense of business… and of humor.

The singer recently made her own on social media when RnB Radar label CEO Tommy Banks tagged her in a tweet from one of her artists, rapper YTK.

The latter sang on a song that samples

Shake It Off

, one of the diva's hits.

“Mariah Carey has 24 hours to answer,” he wrote in the caption.

And the person concerned was quick to react, posting (less than 24 hours later): “And if you, on your side, had less than 24 hours to contact my lawyer?

".

A harsh response from the pop star (although she added a purple heart emoji at the end), which quickly went viral and earned her some insults from angry internet users.

Have to laugh!

But don't panic, it turns out that, according to Tommy Banks himself, Mariah Carey was joking.

The singer would have indeed, behind the scenes, done everything to ensure that they could obtain the rights to sample her title.

"I want to reiterate that Mariah was joking, please stop saying rude things to her."

She told this same joke to Questlove hours before responding to the tweet and putting us in touch with the people who can help us sort it out!

So it's not a problem on his side, "he posted a few hours later, referring to the Roots drummer, friend of Mariah Carey, who acted as the intermediary between the two parties.

Either way, Tommy Banks seems to have pulled it off.

“In 24 hours: I managed to get 5 million impressions for YTK.

Almost 1 million views.

Hundreds of celebrities have retweeted it and Mariah herself responded, ”responded the label boss, obviously proud of him.

A huge buzz for a young rapper from Baltimore whose videos were until now confidential.
