Hokkaido announced that after the coming-of-age ceremony held in Iwamizawa this month, a new cluster was formed at a meeting where new adults gathered to eat, drink and karaoke.

According to Hokkaido, this meeting was held by new adults after the coming-of-age ceremony held in Iwamizawa on the 2nd of this month.

One of the participants in the meeting had a positive PCR test on the 7th, which led to a total of 59 participants and store employees who may have had close contact with them. As a result of the inspection, a total of 19 people in their teens to 20s, including the first infected person, were confirmed to be infected by the 9th.

Symptoms are all mild or asymptomatic.

About 400 people attended the coming-of-age ceremony in Iwamizawa City this year, and after shortening the time to prevent infection, we made it a three-part system and reduced the number of people each time.

However, after the ceremony was over, new adults and others called on participants on SNS etc., and meetings were held at multiple stores.

At least 40 people attended the meeting, some of whom took off their masks and karaoke, and some who ate and drank with alcohol until the next morning.

In the future, Hokkaido will inspect hundreds of people, including participants and close contacts.
