The endangered species "Phaius flavus" is in full bloom at the Botanical Garden in Kochi City, and is open to the public for a limited time from the 10th.

"Phaius flavus" is characterized by rugged rock-like stems and grows naturally in forests of Honshu and Shikoku, but due to overfishing for horticultural purposes, it is rarely seen in the wild, and the country and Kochi prefecture are extinct. It is designated as an endangered species.

At the Kochi Prefectural Makino Botanical Garden in Kochi City, we took over the stock of "Ganzekiran" from a farmer in Shimanto Town nine years ago and started cultivating it, and it is open to the public for a limited time from three years ago when the flowers bloom.

On the slopes of the mountain, which is usually not open to the public and is overgrown with trees of about 500 square meters, more than 5,000 stocks form a large community, and although there are many buds, bright yellow flowers are still in full bloom.

Seiko Fujii, a tree doctor in charge of management, said, "I was disappointed that the release last year was canceled due to the influence of the new corona, but I have been working hard toward this and the flowers in the best condition. I would be grateful if you could take a look at this and heal the corona sickness. "

The large community of "Phaius flavus" is open to the public from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm every day until the 16th of this month, and may be canceled depending on the weather.
