At least 11 people were killed in Afghanistan in a bomb blast that hit a bus, hours before the Taliban declared a three-day ceasefire for Eid al-Fitr, said. Monday, May 10 the Ministry of the Interior.

This attack occurred during the night from Sunday to Monday in the province of Zabul, in the south-east of the country, Tareq Arian, the spokesperson for the ministry, told the press. 

Zabul provincial governor spokesman Gul Islam Sial said at least 25 people were injured, including women and children, some in critical condition.

Increased violence since the start of the American withdrawal 

Violence in the country has risen sharply in recent weeks after the United States announced it would withdraw its troops from Afghanistan by September 11.

The insurgents announced on Sunday that they would declare a three-day ceasefire on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, the holiday marking the end of Ramadan, a holy month for Muslims.
