Perhaps

Pedro Sánchez

is one of the few Spaniards who woke up this Sunday with the hallucination that the coronavirus is history.

Because the common citizen knows that, unfortunately, the reality is quite different.

For this reason,

no one understands that the president has abdicated the first of his responsibilities, which is to govern

.

Last midnight the state of alarm waned.

But that situation of exceptionality has given way today, without a solution of continuity, to

a state of

l chaos

, without legislation that allows the autonomous communities to continue facing the pandemic.

What Moncloa has done is irresponsibility of extraordinary gravity.

With an inconceivable dontancredismo, Sánchez has refused to lift a finger and respond to the requests of both the opposition and his co-religionists and parliamentary supporters.

There is the anger of the PNV itself for the

abandonment of functions

of the government.

Nor has he wanted to promote alternative legislation to the state of alarm

, with an essential update of health laws as a tool to manage the current de-escalation phase,

Nor has he wanted to listen to those who alerted him that he could not go from one extreme to the other as Spain is experiencing this weekend because the incidence of the virus is still too high

And because, don't forget, only 20% of the population is vaccinated.

So it is not surprising that even one of the socialist barons such as the Castilian-Manchego president

Emiliano Garcia-Page

, very critical of misgovernment, warned yesterday that "if another wave comes, some will say goodbye", a timely little missile-shaped message to Moncloa.

The same government that filled its mouth with

"Expert recommendations"

, which as they ended up knowing they did not even exist, has ignored epidemiologists and health officials who emphasize that the current situation is very different in the different territories -

the incidence in the Basque Country, for example, continues to be very high, 462 people per 100,000 inhabitants

-, which requires this specific legislative framework to implement effective restrictions depending on the circumstances, which are not homogeneous.

In the upside down world in which it has installed us, the Government, above, in a confusion of powers that at least borders on the unconstitutional,

has endorsed the management of the pandemic to the Supreme Court, as if the judges were responsible for filling the gap in laws and governing

.

The chaos to which Sánchez's irresponsibility has led us began to be seen that same Friday: a higher court of Justice like that of the Basque Country overturned the same curfew that other courts do allow in Valencia or the Balearic Islands.

The citizens are completely baffled, stunned by such a situation

kafkaesque

.

And, as EL MUNDO advanced, in the Supreme Court there is strong discontent over the «institutional position» of «partner» of governance in which Moncloa has placed it with the decree-law with which it wants to avoid the fragmentation of responses between autonomies on the possibility of applying restrictions.

When, in addition,

those measures that affect fundamental rights cannot be done with decrees

Rather, they demand the appropriate legislative framework, which is what, we insist, the Government has refused to articulate, pending only what its apprentice witches in marketing dictate at all times.

It is nonsense with very serious implications.

First, for

everyone's health

, because the absence of a de-escalation in conditions, serious and with sanitary criteria, can make us regress part of what is advanced and that infections will increase in the coming days.

And it could be

devastating for our economy

, already quite damaged.

The notice has not been long in coming.

The United Kingdom has left us off the list of safe countries to travel

- in which there are others like Portugal, who have done things well.

London, like the governments of other powers, will periodically review its recommendations.

But so that we can attract all the foreign visitors we need this summer, it is essential that our contagion data falls strongly.

I couldn't bear to see another tourist season ruined

.

And even so, in Moncloa they trust everything at random.

We are in these hands.
