Barack Obama announced on Saturday the death of his dog Bo, who has become a real White House star, from cancer.
Bo had made his entry into the family, because Barack Obama had promised his two daughters Malia and Sasha that they could have a dog if he won the 2008 presidential elections.
"Today our family has lost a true friend and loyal companion," the former president commented on Twitter, sharing several photos of this white Portuguese water dog, a gift from Senator Edward Kennedy.
Bo had regularly appeared at White House events, had met the Pope, visited children in hospital, and flew on the presidential Air Force One plane.
“As a family, Bo will be dearly missed,” ex-first lady Michelle Obama also said.
