China News Service, Shenyang, May 8th (Shen Diancheng) According to Sun Yiquan's studio in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, Shenyang mountaineer and artist Sun Yiquan, who is currently in the Mount Everest base camp in Nepal, decided to terminate the climb of Mount Everest after careful consideration.

It is reported that this year the Nepal Tourism Administration issued a total of 408 permits to climb Mount Everest.

The reason why so many people came to climb Mount Everest this year is that the Nepalese government closed Mount Everest last year due to the new crown epidemic, and a large number of climbers cancelled their climbing plans that year.

A few days ago, in Nepal, as the window period approaches, a large number of international mountaineering teams began to climb. Everest High Altitude Camp No. 3 and No. 4 are public camps. All climbing teams share tents, so as to avoid close contact. The anti-epidemic requirements of China are contrary to each other.

In addition, early in the climbing season this year, there were individual cases of new crowns in the Everest Base Camp. The incubation period of the new crown virus is longer. The cold climate of Mount Everest is conducive to the survival of the virus. Once a situation arises, it will be a test for Nepal's medical and health system.

For the above reasons, Sun Yiquan decided to stop climbing.

As early as May 19, 2013, 26-year-old Sun Yiquan reached the summit of Mount Everest for the first time and became the youngest mountaineer to climb Mount Everest on the southern slope of China.

On May 20, 2018, he successfully climbed Mount Everest for the second time.

On May 21, 2019, Sun Yiquan reached the summit of Mount Everest for the third time, becoming the mountaineer who has climbed Mount Everest from the southern slope the most by the Chinese people.

Sun Yiquan’s fourth climb of Mount Everest has been planned since 2020, and has never stopped physical training for more than a year.

On April 17 this year, he set off from Shenyang to Lhasa for a two-week high-altitude adaptation training, arrived in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, on May 2, and arrived at the base camp on the southern slope of Mount Everest on the 7th. It is planned to wait for a suitable window to start the summit.

It is understood that even after the decision to terminate the fourth climb, Sun Yiquan will have to go through a 14-day quarantine after returning to Kathmandu.

Since Nepal has closed the country and international flights have been suspended, after waiting for the lifting of the ban on international flights, there will be 21 or 28 days of quarantine when returning home.

Sun Yiquan said that despite this, for a climber whose heart is in the snow-capped mountains, all these efforts are worthwhile and necessary.

Sun Yiquan said that when it comes to mountain climbing, people habitually believe that conquering should be a result, and placing the mountain at the foot is a great victory.

But for myself, climbing is no longer a conquest.

On the contrary, he believes that in this process, people should see the insignificance of people and re-examine the relationship between man and nature.

Only when people are in nature can they truly see the mighty power of nature, see the gifts of nature, and understand nature's care and care for people, so that they can truly return to nature.

Starting from preparing to climb Mount Everest again, Sun Yiquan is preparing for a new meeting, returning to nature, and starting a new dialogue with nature.

Sun Yiquan believes that his journey to Mount Everest is complete.

Being so close to this mountain again, listening to the whistling of the mountain wind, feeling its caress in the wind and snow, although it is cold, it carries the temperature of the mountain.

Sun Yiquan, who was once lifted to the highest point by mountains and nature, and withstood the test along the way, after seeing the scenery of the highest point, Sun Yiquan decided to terminate the fourth Everest climb and had the following feelings: If you have a different experience, you need to see When it comes to different landscapes, it is necessary to use this different experience to convey the admonitions and vigilance of mountains and nature to human beings, and to experience the new life course in this different landscape.
