Iwate Prefecture and Morioka City have announced that 17 new people have been confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus.
Infection was confirmed in 1076 people in the prefecture.
Iwate Prefecture also announced that an elderly patient with an underlying illness has died.
With this, 34 people have died in the prefecture.
