According to JR East, at around 2:30 pm on the 8th, the Hokuriku Shinkansen Hakutaka 565, which was running between Karuizawa Station and Sakudaira Station in Nagano Prefecture, collided with a bear.

The Shinkansen made an emergency stop at the site, and after confirming safety, resumed operation about 30 minutes later.

No one was injured.

According to JR, the site is not elevated, but there is a fence to prevent intrusion, and we are going to investigate where the bear invaded.

It is unusual for the Hokuriku Shinkansen to collide with a bear.

In addition to high schools and junior high schools, there are accommodation facilities and tourist spots in the vicinity, and according to the town, tourists reported two cases of bear sightings about 1 meter and 20 centimeters in length before noon.

The town is calling attention to the fact that bears that have finished hibernation will be active, so please take measures such as wearing something that makes noise and keeping garbage outside.
