Van Morisson has spent the pandemic year releasing songs that dismiss research as "skewed facts", mock those who wear mouth guards and call the government "fascist bullies".

On his new album “Latest record project vol.

1 ”he continues to conspire, among other things about secret“ meetings in the woods ”and“ brainwashing ”.

The Guardian's critics give the album one of five stars, and likens the blues veteran to a furious customer who demands a refund.

The Rolling Stones reviewer is not quite as ruthless, but sees flashes of light among the 28 songs.

But the album only gets two stars, and the overall result is described as "a sometimes amusing, sometimes frustrating, hardly exciting and largely unlistenable collection of explanations and riffs".

Among the acclaimed songs is the title track, where Van Morrison demands to know why people are more interested in songs he released "a long time ago" than in his more newly written music.

The Guardian's critics conclude their review by stating that the album provides a clear answer to Morrison's introductory question.
