Every morning, Nicolas Beytout analyzes political news and gives us his opinion.

This Friday, he is interested in the failed political operation for the regional elections in PACA.

After Hubert Falco, the mayor of Toulon and historic activist Les Républicains, it is Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, who slams the door of his party.

The operation to merge the En Marche list with that of the Republicans in PACA was a total fiasco.

And two!

After Hubert Falco, the mayor of Toulon and historic activist Les Républicains, it is Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, who slams the door of his party.

Do you know a lot about political operations which only claim victims, which only produce damage? We have a splendid example in front of us: the operation to merge the En Marche list with that of the Republicans in PACA was a total fiasco. First victim, the Macron camp, instigator of the maneuver, which first took public note of its inconsistency on the ground (not politically glorious), and who failed to infiltrate its candidates into the device of Renaud Muselier, the boss LR of the region. Still on the presidential majority side, the ambition to place the En Marche candidates under a right-wing flag gave hives to his left wing, a fringe always quick to moan and complain about the political positioning of the Head of State. Nothing very positive, then.

Nothing good either right?

No nothing !

While it already had virtually no coherence on its political ideas, the party publicly tore itself apart, personal hatreds rekindled and two great feudal parties of the party, the mayors of Toulon and Nice, slammed the door of the Republicans.

As for Renaud Muselier, the outgoing president of the region which has become a battlefield, he was accused of treason, degraded and then reinstated in his order, but swallowing XXL sardines to save his nomination.

The only one who could say phew at a pinch is Christian Jacob, the boss of the Republicans, who has managed to get over the crisis and keep a small chance of keeping the region on the right.

A very poor record, therefore.

And Emmanuel Macron, you also put him among the victims?

He failed his intrusion operation in PACA. We will also see during the day how he will go about it with Eric Dupond-Moretti in Hauts-de-France. Another failure: he had sent his Prime Minister to head the offensive on PACA, by announcing the maneuver to merge the En Marche and LR lists. The failure of the operation is also that of Jean Castex who lost there a good opportunity to show himself as leader of the majority. The only satisfaction on Emmanuel Macron's side may be to say to himself that he has managed to make a mess of local politics, as he had succeeded, in 2017, in making traditional political parties out of date. Except that at the time, he had a war machine to replace them, his movement La République en Marche which is in bad shape today.

Xavier Bertrand accused the Head of State of being "a cold calculator, a destroyer".

Yes, it is also an effect of this general Waterloo: the level of violence in political exchanges has reached a milestone.

There is no doubt that the election campaigns are shaping up to be tough.
