The Prime Minister and the Minister of the Interior will receive "the police unions at the beginning of next week", announced Jean Castex during a trip to the Sarcelles police station (Val-d'Oise).

This meeting comes two weeks after the murder of a police officer in Rambouillet and a few days after that of a police officer in Avignon.

The Prime Minister also paid tribute to the 36-year-old policeman during his trip.

Eric Masson, father of two children, "son" and brother of police officers, was "an exemplary policeman", "a servant of the State, a servant of the Republic, who died in the service of his country", underlined Jean Castex in recalling that seven police officers died "on mission" in 2020. Eric Masson "was committed to the fight against everyday insecurity and more particularly in the fight against all forms of trafficking, including that of narcotics set up as the priority of the government ", he added.

10 million euros to "strengthen the security of police stations"

Faced with "the urgent need to protect those who protect us", an additional 10 million euros will be released to "strengthen the security of police stations" and the generalization of individual pedestrian cameras will be implemented "this summer, ”he said.

Announcing that a green light was given to the reconstruction of the Sarcelles police station, he highlighted the efforts of the government to support the police at the national level: additional police and gendarmes on the ground, acceleration of the renovation of premises and modernization of equipment.

"The comprehensive security law which will soon be promulgated will strengthen the legal arsenal at your disposal and also broaden the conditions for the intervention of municipal police", he also recalled.
