  With the rapid development of Internet finance, the value of virtual currency continues to hit new highs, and crimes such as illegal fund-raising, fraud, and illegal acquisition of computer information data by virtual currency speculation are high.

  The case of Zhong and other four persons who illegally obtained computer information system data prosecuted by the People's Procuratorate of Yongjia County was recently sentenced in the first instance. The principal culprit, Zhong Mou, was sentenced to four years and six months in prison for the crime of illegally obtaining computer information system data and was fined 10 Ten thousand yuan.

  It is reported that when the Yongjia County Procuratorate handled the case, it successfully recovered 15 million yuan in stolen money to maximize the loss of the victim.

4 young people conspired to create "Emerald Coins" crazy to attract gold

  Four young people in their 20s are thinking about making money through virtual digital currency. In early September 2020, four people set up a website in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province and published it on the EOS blockchain, conspiring to create and issue "Emerald Coins". Make profits by buying at low prices and selling at high prices.

  After applying for the registration of a virtual currency account, they released the "Emerald Coin" project information through WeChat, Telegram and other social software, attracting unspecified investors to deposit virtual currency such as EOS, USDT, DFS and other virtual currency accounts to participate in coin mining.

  In order to increase the value of "Emerald Coins", four people used different accounts to continuously purchase "Emerald Coins" dug up by investors, creating the illusion of "Emerald Coins" of false prosperity.

  In just one day, the project attracted hundreds of people to participate in the mining of "Emerald Coins", and the virtual currency invested in it was worth more than 15 million yuan equivalent to RMB.

  Since there was no next party to take over, the "Emerald Coin" project failed. The defendant Zhong and other four people used the key left during the registration application to use the victim to mine the "Emerald Coin" EOS, USDT, DFS virtual currency (equivalent to RMB (Valued at more than 15 million yuan) through the TokenPochet wallet company to transfer to his own account, and shut down the coin mining website, resulting in investors unable to withdraw investment funds.

  It is reported that among the victims are investors of Yongjia nationality. In September 2020, the case was reported to the Yongjia County Public Security Bureau by the victim Xiao (Yongjia nationality), and the case was opened for investigation on the same day.

  In order to prevent the victim from tracking the virtual currency, the defendant Zhong (the other three handled separately) also transferred the illegally obtained virtual currency to foreign trading platforms, of which the virtual currency worth about RMB 6.15 million was converted into virtual currencies of other currencies. Currency, the remaining unconverted virtual currency was frozen by foreign trading platforms due to reports by the victims.

  After the incident, Zhong took the initiative to return part of the virtual currency to the victim through the TokenPochet wallet company.

Procuratorate actively recovered 15 million yuan in stolen money

  After the incident, the People's Procuratorate of Yongjia County has coordinated and communicated with the public security organs many times to persuade Zhong to actively return the stolen goods.

  In the end, Zhong agreed to entrust a company in Wenzhou to refund EOS coins and USDT coins in full to repay the victims' losses.

Up to now, most of the victims have received the full amount.

  In addition, a small number of victims did not apply for it in time.

Taking into account the instability of virtual currency prices, in order to protect the victims from unnecessary losses, the Yongjia County People’s Procuratorate recommends that the public security organs exchange the remaining EOS and USDT for RMB 24.1985 and RMB 6.4 respectively for the remaining unclaimed EOS and USDT. The proportion was converted into RMB 603,338.741, which was temporarily stored in the public account of the Yongjia County Public Security Bureau to repay the victims’ losses.
