C8 announced at the end of March that Philippe Labro's program "Langue de bois s'abstenir" would disappear and be replaced by a new program from the journalist, "L'Essentiel chez Labro", more focused on culture and entertainment.

The presenter tells "Culture Médias" about his new program, launched on Sunday.

INTERVIEW

It has many similarities to the one it replaces.

C8 launches on Sunday

L'essentiel chez Labro

, the new show by Philippe Labro.

Until then, he had presented

Langue de bois abstain

.

And the two programs have many points in common: same channel, same day, same time and same principle, a discussion between the presenter and his guests, Sunday at 11 p.m. on C8.

The only difference, and not the least, is the theme.

No more debates around topical issues, now it's time for culture.

A subject which corresponds to the new positioning of the channel, "family and feel good".

A change that suits Philippe Labro very well.

"Life is not just about politics, the economy, the social and the various facts. There is also the culture", recalls the journalist.

"It seemed to us that it was not useless to turn a page of 12 years of" Langue de bois abstain ", considering that I am also a filmmaker, a novelist, a lyricist, and therefore this world of culture fascinates me. "

"I don't want to promote"

Everything interests Philippe Labro: music, cinema, literature, comics and even video games. It will also be a question of art on the Internet. All this will be discussed with guests not necessarily very well known, because Philippe Labro wants to highlight more confidential profiles. "I don't necessarily want to do what's called promo, which is after-sales service, and invite someone to my set as soon as they release something. Not at all." , he assures.

"If a book, a film or any event occurs, not necessarily famous but which participates in the cultural life of the country, we will invite its teams," he promises.

"And I got a portable camera to do close-ups, shoot details and get out of the routine of shows with people around a table. We're going to give a style and a tone, always with a musical ending. . "
