It is hard to imagine Kim Kardashian in the heart of a large traffic of ancient statues.

And yet, the name of the reality TV star is cited in a federal investigation into the seizure, in 2016, of a statue identified as "Fragment of Myron Samian Athena - limestone - 1st -2nd century AD".

Found, according to

People

, by customs at the port of Los Angeles, it bore an indication that directly implicates the influencer: the registered importer is "Kim Kardashian, represented by the Noel Roberts Trust".

Asked by NBC News, the agents of Kanye West's ex-wife are categorical: Kim Kardashian is not the owner of this ancient work of art.

“She has never bought this piece and this is the first time she has learned of its existence.

We believe she may have been purchased using her name without authorization, and as it was never received, she was unaware of the transaction.

We encourage an investigation and hope that it will be returned to its rightful owners, ”they said.

Its decorator pleads good faith

In any case, some evidence calls this version of the facts into question. The investigators would indeed have got their hands on a receipt issued by the Belgian interior designer Axel Vervoordt. However, the latter is known to have worked with Kim Kardashian, since it was he who redecorated his house in Hidden Hills. Axel Vervoordt, for his part, contented himself with telling CNN that he had no idea that the statue had been imported illegally from Italy. "Our client, as well as our gallery and the gallery from which we purchased the work, have always acted in good faith when dealing with the work," said a representative of the artist, without questioning the involvement of Kim Kardashian.

According to the

Guardian

, however, the star is not at risk.

She is not charged with anything in the investigation and there is no indication that she was aware of the illegal nature of the importation of this item.
