According to the RKI management report on Wednesday evening, the
nationwide
seven-day R-value
was
0.83
(previous day: 0.82).
This means that 100 infected people theoretically infect 83 more people.
The R-value represents the occurrence of the infection 8 to 16 days ago.
If it is below 1 for a longer period of time, the infection process subsides;
if it is consistently higher, the number of cases increases.
In three federal states -
Hamburg, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein
- the 7-day incidence is now below 100. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Brandenburg and Berlin are close to reaching this mark.
In the
intensive care units

, where positive developments only become noticeable after a few delays, the situation seems to be at least stabilizing.
On Wednesday the number of patients treated was

cases (previous day 4955), here too the curve has been tending downwards since the end of April.

In Germany,
30.6 percent
of people have received at least one corona vaccination.
This comes from the vaccination rate monitoring of the RKI (status: May 6th, 9.45 a.m.).
So far, 8.6 percent of the population has received full vaccination protection.
On Wednesday, around 1.1 million (1,092,765) vaccinations were reported.
As Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) announced on Twitter, this was the second day after the start of the vaccination campaign in Germany when the number of vaccine doses administered was seven digits.
The highest daily value since the start of the vaccination campaign was reached on Wednesday last week with 1,116,608 vaccinations.
All in all, all vaccination centers have administered just under 32.6 million doses so far, of which just under 25.5 million for first vaccinations and a good 7.1 million for second vaccinations.

On Thursday, a total of 1687 new infections were reported within 24 hours, compared with 2066 a week ago.
At the beginning of March, shops, theaters, cinemas, zoos, fitness centers and leisure facilities were reopened in Switzerland, and the restaurant terraces were also opened in mid-April.
