According to the Foreign Ministry, the Iranian police are investigating the death of a Swiss diplomat in Tehran.

"The police are currently intensively investigating the circumstances that led to the diplomat's death," said Foreign Office spokesman Said Chatibsadeh on Wednesday evening.

The Foreign Ministry deeply regrets the "bitter" incident and is in constant contact with the Swiss embassy, ​​said Chatibsadeh.

The diplomat's corpse is still in forensic medicine and will be handed over to the embassy after the investigation, the spokesman said, according to the state news agency IRNA.

According to the Iranian police, the diplomat fell from the 18th floor of a skyscraper in northern Tehran on Monday evening and was killed in the process.

Her body was only discovered the next day by her domestic worker in the garden of the residential complex.
