Schleswig-Holstein is taking further steps in the corona pandemic: Vaccinated, convalescent and tested people are allowed to visit restaurants throughout the country and stay in accommodation facilities from May 17 under strict guidelines, as Prime Minister Daniel Günther (CDU) announced on Wednesday.
There are also relief in the areas of daycare, school, sport and culture.
The northernmost federal state has been seeing falling infection numbers for weeks. In many places, the 7-day incidence is so low that outdoor restaurants are open under certain conditions. Tourism started on April 19 - albeit limited to a region and with strict guidelines. If you want to stay overnight as a tourist in the north, you have to be tested for Corona every three days. With its resolutions, the state government is practically extending the rules that apply to four model regions to the entire state. So far, vacationers in the Schleiregion, in Eckernförde and in North Friesland have been allowed to vacation under strict Corona requirements. From this Saturday on, this is also possible in Timmendorfer Strand, Scharbeutz, Sierksdorf and Neustadt on the Baltic Sea in the Bay of Lübeck. Büsum follows in Dithmarschen on Monday.
The federal government decided on Tuesday to relax the corona rules for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered.
Several federal states have already implemented these new rules on their own initiative and, for example, put vaccinated people on an equal footing with those who tested negative.
The SPD health expert Karl Lauterbach criticized the opening plans of some federal states as premature.
"I find it fatal that the competition is taking place again to determine which federal state eases up the fastest," he told the "Handelsblatt".

Lauterbach also criticizes plans to relax the tourism sector from a seven-day incidence of less than 100: "For openings, you need a significantly lower incidence, around 50 or even lower."
