This is the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War. The party Central Committee, the State Council, and the Central Military Commission gave us veterans a souvenir (chapter).

[Explanation] The old man in the picture is named Lin Zhen, an anti-Japanese warrior.

Now that she is over eighty years old, she is still very energetic and often comes to sit in this lion pavilion in Guanyin Mountain, Sha Tin, Hong Kong, because this is the place where she and her comrades fought bloody battles.

At the end of 1941, the Japanese army launched an offensive and occupied Hong Kong. Lin Zhen just turned 6 that year.

Two years later, she joined the Anti-Japanese War team and became a "little messenger" of the Hong Kong and Kowloon Independent Brigade of the Dongjiang Column.

I only participated because of my sister. Why did I go to the guerrillas at such a young age.

[Commentary] Talking about the reasons for joining the anti-Japanese war team at a young age, Lin Zhen's eyes were moist.

In 1943, Lin Zhen was 8 years old.

At that time, Lin Zhen's sister, Lin Zhan, was fluent in Chinese, English, and Japanese, and was a major member of the International Working Group of the Hong Kong and Kowloon Independent Brigade of the East Column, responsible for intelligence and translation work.

In an intelligence work, the Japanese soldiers tried to insult Lin Zhan but failed. Instead, they falsely accused her of stealing the military ticket and broke into the door with a bayonet.

He (Japanese soldier) falsely accused her (my sister) of stealing their military ticket, 180 yuan, and reported it to the Gendarmerie Department, and then arrested my sister for a fight, and even took it home by car.

At that time, our family lived on the third floor. As soon as there was a railing on the third floor, he (tied his sister) to the railing. When he came up, he hit it without asking why. After more than two hours of hitting, my sister fainted and splashed water. When I hit, my elbow was all swollen. I took a big knife and stabbed my sister in the neck.

My sister said, if my younger brother and sister are killed, you must give me revenge. During this whole process, my sister has never cried a word, we can only grit our teeth.

We haven't forgotten for so many years. Since then, my mother said, "You said it earlier, we can't sit at home and wait any longer, let's go to fight the Japanese devils with you, just join the army like this."

[Commentary] Influenced by her sister, Lin Zhen joined the Anti-Japanese War team without hesitation.

Her first job was as a correspondent, taking advantage of her young age, which was not easily noticeable, to transmit information between guerrillas.

Due to her flexibility and familiarity with the local situation, the intelligence she sent has never been intercepted.

Six months later, Lin Zhen was assigned to the wounded soldiers treatment point, responsible for the treatment and rescue of the wounded soldiers.

I have taken care of some injured elder brothers, and some comrades who were blinded by the explosion when they made this landmine.

I saw one of these two comrades after the War of Resistance against Japan, who died a few years ago.

Every year when he sees them, he always (said) A Zhen sister, come hurry up and give you a letter, very kind.

[Explanation] In recent years, Lin Zhen has mainly devoted himself to the networking work of Hong Kong veterans of the War of Resistance Against Japan.

Beginning in 1985, the veterans began to collect and record the history of the war by visiting their comrades, collecting recordings, and sorting them into texts.

Under the impetus of the veterans, in 1998 the SAR government put the list of 115 martyrs from the Dongjiang Column Hong Kong and Kowloon Brigade into the Hong Kong City Hall for the public to pay respect.

Because before the return of (Hong Kong), the Hong Kong and Kowloon Brigade established the Veterans Association in Guangzhou. It was in Guangzhou in 1989. We have been together once, and we met the hospital where I was a nurse in the guerrillas. The person in charge, he slapped his head, where did you kid go in the past 20 (50) years, not more than 20 years and 50 years.

So when I came back, he said, come on, come and help our veterans to work, and just return to the team.

[Explanation] In the three and eight months after the fall of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong and Kowloon Brigade, founded and led by the Communist Party of China, fought bloody battles with the Japanese invaders, leaving an epic and heroic chapter in the party's century of struggle.

In Lin Zhen's view, no matter how the times change, this history of the War of Resistance should never be forgotten by people.

Although it has been more than 20 years since the reunification, some people used foreign forces to talk about this period of history upside down, indifferent and distorted the struggle of the year.

Therefore, there must be a real teaching material, which must inherit the spirit of the Hong Kong people and the entire Chinese people in fighting the enemy and fighting for the defense of the country in a comprehensive and complete way.
